1 Introduction
This paper describes the present situation in Dinh Minh Huong, the Chinese temple in Dai An village.
Chinese immigrants have long inhabited the Mekong Delta area. For example, in the compilation “Water Frontier” (Cooke and Tana 2004), it was reported that Chinese traders were energetically involved in trading in the Mekong Delta from the 18th century to the 19th century. In Volume 4 of Gia Dinh Thanh Thong Chi, compiled by Trinh Hoai Duc (1820), it was noted that Chinese immigrants and their descendants settled in the newly developed southern region in the beginning of the 19th century, and were compatible with Vietnamese, Khmer, and Cham people.
